Commanders' bake off highlights town hall meeting
BUAMHOLDER, Germany - - Baumholder’s next town hall, scheduled for 4 p.m. May 25 at the Rheinlander Community club, will offer food for thought and for consumption.
Find out what’s new when Lt. Col. Sam McAdoo, U.S. Army Garrison Baumholder commander, talks about community happenings for the next three months and then partake in the festive flare of the first quarterly "Rear Detachment and Family Readiness Group bake off. Commanders will present their favorite dessert for tasting and FRGs will support them with sweets and treats for the audience.
Special prizes will be given to Rear D commanders for first, second and third place. Desserts will be judged on taste and presentation.
In addition to taking questions from the audience, McAdoo will discuss the garrison’s latest recycling and environmental program initiatives, with a focus on the new recycling containers with color coded lids, such as red for glass.
Other topics include the relocation of the Army and Air Force Exchange Service car care center. The center is scheduled to move from its current location to the compound where the Auto Hobby Shop is located. Come to the town hall and find out why.
The U-Fix-It Store is also moving to a more central location next to the AAFES Power Zone. The Baumholder Hilltop Theater will then move into the building vacated by the U-Fix-It Store.
So plan to come out, grab a free snack and refreshment, enjoy the festivities and learn about what’s happening in your community. "We have doubled our supply of door prizes and child watch will be provided on site," said Patrice McCray, town hall organizer. "This is going to be big. We’re expecting a large turnout because the FRGs and Soldiers are all pumped up about coming out to support their commanders during the bake off," said McCray.
Community members will again have an opportunity to win door prizes such as gifts from the Baumholder Exchange, movie tickets, sports jackets, 50 percent off select outdoor recreational equipment, Arts and Craft gift certificates, drinks from Java Cafe and much more.
