Provides USAG Baumholder community and their family members with European driver’s orientation, training, testing and issuing of U.S. Forces Certificate of License for Privately Owned and Military Non-Tactical Vehicles including Buses.

 

 

Licensing procedure

  1. Individuals applying for a USAREUR drivers license must have completed AE Form 190-1T and bring the following documentation with them.

     

    • ID certificate

    • Valid Stateside or military license

    • Prescribed glasses or contact lenses for use during eye testing.

    • $10.00 check or money order (if required) no cash is accepted at any time

    • Telephone # DSN

    • Complete military mailing address to include CMR#, Unit#, Box#

     

  2. Orientation and test are valid for only 90 days after attending class, if you fail to obtain your license within this time frame you must start from the beginning.

International Drivers License

 

Although obtaining an international drivers license is not required, it is highly recommended if you plan on driving outside of Germany.

 

To apply for an IDP an application form can be picked up at the Driver’s Testing Station in USAG Baumholder or download International License Application (PDF version). Once the form is completed it must be certified at either location before taking it to the local Drivers Testing Station or Fuehrescheinstelle. Certification is only available from 1-4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Drivers Testing Station.

 

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and until 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Be sure to bring your U.S. ID card, a passport-size photo, and your USAREUR license. The IDP costs 15 Euro and is only valid for as long as you are assigned in Germany.
